Claim:
I believe the sixth patient has Turner syndrome due to several relations between their symptoms and noted symptoms of Turner syndrome. If so this will limit her ability for childbirth and it must be treated as soon as possible even though incurable. I have come to this conclusion due to these specific related symptoms: a family history of the disease, scoliosis, swollen hands, droopy eyes, excess skin, gets her period once every 8 months, female, diabetes type 1. Her disease if correctly diagnosed may have been caused by a missing X chromosome in early fetal stages of life and developed into Turner syndrome. After looking through all the given symptoms and factors that would face towards the development of turner disease in her endocrine system i stand by my expert and researched opinion that she has contracted turner syndrome.
Conclusion:
For this project we were assigned a group of no more than four members in which we were to research a endocrine system disease given to us by Dr. LB without sharing any information of it with any of the other seven groups. We researched enough so we could role play patients going in to get diagnosed by several doctors (other students). I also got to try out the other side of the spectrum role playing a doctor that got to ask several listed questions to the patient including questions about heritage symptoms ect. so I could take notes on possible diagnosis for there disease. After diagnosing seven different diseases as a group we were tasked with each choosing one to researched farther and write a well written paragraph with evidence supporting our claim (^ above).
I thoroughly enjoyed this project and found it fascinating to step into the shoes of a doctor. This whole project was an amazing experience and built my knowledge in not only diagnosing diseases but also writing a claim evidence reasoning paragraph and a little bit of growth in seeing from the perspective of a doctor.
